Are Hits and Visitors Different?

Yes. A visit is logged when someone views a page on your website, then for every file that makes up that page a hit is registered.

For example, if someone views a page with 5 photos on it, they will have visited once and hit 6 times (5 images and one extra hit for the page itself).

Can a top-spot on Google be guaranteed?

No. Google use a series of algorithms and techniques to work out where pages are placed after a certain search.

Search Engine Optimisation can really help to better your chances and get you competing for the top-spot, but anyone that sais they can guarantee it is lieing!

Can poor web design cause spam?

Yes, persons that send out spam have a number of ways of harvesting email addresses that they send to.

A poorly designed website or contact page that displays email addresses in textual form (or using mailto: links especially) are one of the most common ways for your address to be snapped up.

A secure contact form if much more effecient and will help to greatly reduce your chances of getting spam.
